In 2004, CHAMP co-sponsored three community presentations with Celina City Schools and the Mercer County Teen Coalition. This partnership was formed to raise the community’s awareness about issues affecting teens. CHAMP will continue to be a sponsor of these informative programs and post information about presentations on this page.

Operation: Street Smart, Thursday, November 8, 2007
OPERATION: STREET SMART is a collaborative effort between D.A.R.E. and the Special Investigations Unit of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. Two current undercover detectives, who possess over thirty years of combined narcotics experience, conduct the presentation. This program will provide up-to-date narcotics information on trends, terminology, paraphernalia, and physiological effects. The program includes examples of current designer street drugs, “traditional” drugs, and prescription medications that are abused. Drugs and drug paraphernalia examples are available and escorted throughout the audience by D.A.R.E. officers for a hands on effect.

The Mercer County Teen Coalition, Mercer County Right to Life, Celina City Schools and CHAMP are pleased to cosponsor a thought-provoking presentation by nationally known speaker, Phil Chalmers. His discussions cover many of the destructive decisions that teens might make. He informs his audiences with memorable illustrations whether he is talking about suicide, modesty, abstinence or STDs. Phil shares advice that every parent, teacher and police officer would like to give to middle school and high school students. We urge you to attend his parent presentation on November 15. He will also address Celina middle school and high school students during school assemblies on November 15.

DRUG ABUSE IN MERCER COUNTY - Monday, January 10, 2005
Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey will report on drug abuse in Mercer County. He will discuss the kinds of illegal drugs sold and used locally and explain their sources.
