GREAT EXPECTATIONS
During the 2006-2007 school year, CHAMP initiated the Great Expectations program. This program was started to support students who do not have a booster club to back them. Through this program, CHAMP strive to ensure that all students can afford to pursue their goals. Letters of nomination from the CHS staff can be delivered to the CHAMP mailbox at the high school.

2006-2007 Recipients
CHAMP awarded two cash donations during the 2006-2007 school year. An award of $400 was given to eleven seniors who make up The Colbert Flyer team in the Red Bull Flugtag contest. The national competition invites teams to design a human-powered flying machine. Teams pilot their crafts off the end of a 30-foot ramp in hopes of achieving flight. Only 30 teams were invited to compete. The Colbert Flyer team was selected to represent Celina High School on June 23 in Nashville, TN. Judging criteria includes distance, creativity and showmanship. The grand prize is a pilot’s training course or cash equivalent of $7,500. Second prize is a skydiving adventure, or the cash equivalent of $3,000, and third prize is a paragliding adventure or cash equivalent of $1,500. Check out the sketch of the flying machine at http://www.redbullflugtagusa.com/Nashville/sketches.aspx
CHAMP also donated $100 to help fund Shannon Holtzapple’s competition in New York City May 9-13. Shannon, a senior at Celina High School, represented Tri Star Career Compact in Office Administration competition. She won third place in state competition, which earned her the privilege to compete in NY.
