STUDENT LEADERSHIP TRAINING FUND 2007-2008
Now in Existence for the Seventh Year

Celina High Academic and Motivational Promoters (CHAMP) are pleased to announce that seven business sponsors donated $2350 to the CHAMP Student Leadership Training Fund again this year.  The fund was set up by CHAMP to provide funding for Student Council members to attend leadership conferences and workshops across the state.  Businesses who each gave $500 are Pax Machine Company, CAPT, Crown Equipment Corporation and Mercer Savings Bank.  Other businesses who gave generous contributions are Shinn Brothers, Inc. and The Peoples Bank Company.

The funding allowed five Student Council members to attend a five day leadership training Summer Workshop at Wright State University during the summer of 2006.  Four of those students also attended Workshop II.  In September of 2006, five Council members participated in a one day leadership workshop at Cedar Point.  Later in the fall, four students and the Student Council adviser, Wendy Mitchell-Payne, attended Super Saturday, where Council members worked on leadership skills in small groups and listened to a motivational speaker.  Winter Retreat was held the first weekend in March at Camp Y-Noah in Akron, Ohio.  Two Council members and Mrs. Mitchell-Payne attended the overnight retreat, where students worked on leadership skills and developing team unity. The final leadership conference for the school year was State Conference, held in Fort Jennings, Ohio.  Six Celina Council members were selected to lead discussion groups including Lindsay Scheer, Bailey Overman, Kirsten Samples, Jay McKirnan, Lisa Hertel and Garrett Marbaugh.  Other Celina Council members who attended, along with their advisor, are Caitlin Jones, Beth Secrest, Rebecca Harlan and Brittany Spengler.

Student Council officers for the 2006-2007 school year were Ellen Bryan and Lindsay Scheer, Co-President; Kirsten Samples, Vice President; Bailey Overman, Secretary; Kelly Rose, Treasurer, Ethan Westgerdes, Public Relations.
