Members approved a funding request from teacher Jacqui Archer-Amstutz, who wanted $100 for a program to reward students in the Intervention program who show effort and improvement in their work.  CHAMP strives to recognize effort and personal accomplishment in all student pursuits, not just academics.  The CHAMP logo was altered slightly this year to reflect that objective, displaying the words “Promoting student achievement” on the design.

Parents discussed CHAMP’s role in encouraging students to plan their high school education and explore all of the opportunities available to them after high school.  As the job market becomes more competitive, students with some type of post-secondary education will be better prepared for the future.  Parents want their students to start thinking about possible career interests early in high school so that they will know what type of training is required after graduation: a certificate program, a technical school, an associate’s degree or a 4 year college education.

Students can start exploring their strengths and interests and possible career choices by taking the national PLAN test in November of sophomore year.
