CHAMP Programs and Activities 2006 – 2007
ENCOURAGE AND REWARD ACADEMIC AND PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT
- awarded 2 $1000 CHAMP scholarship, 2 $1000 CHAMP/WOEF
scholarships, and a $1200 Member Scholarship
- provided recognition programs for student athletes
who maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- donated approximately $400 to Band Boosters to reward
academic performance in Band members
- offered the Freshman Scholars program to reward the
ten freshman students with the top GPAs
- distributed candy, the Top Dog card, and academic
excellence window peels to honor roll students
- rewarded students selected as Student of the Month
- acknowledged outstanding staff service at the Staff
Appreciation Breakfast
- distributed motivational gifts to all freshmen at
registration
- printed inspirational messages in the athletic
programs and yearbook
- honored seniors graduating in the top 15% of their
class at Breakfast of Champions
- honored all seniors at Senior Send-off during the
first day of final exams
- donated money to the Art Department to frame Art Show
posters
- provided a free ACT Preparation Seminar taught by
Sylvan Learning Center at Celina High School
- helped initiate the six week ACT prep instruction
class offered by Sylvan at the local YMCA
- initiated the Great Expectations program, which
provided $450 to help pay for expenses for students competing out of state
PROMOTE AND REWARD RESPONSIBLE STUDENT CHOICES
- co-sponsored community presentations with the Mercer
County Teen Coalition
- rewarded students nominated for recognition of
personal integrity with the CHARACTER COUNTS program
- recognized student achievement by awarding cash
prizes through the Lotto program to students and the teachers who recommended
them for outstanding performance in academic and/or personal endeavors
- mailed flyers to all middle school and high school
families as part of a campaign to encourage students and parents to make
responsible social choices
PROVIDE INFORMATION AND RESOURCES TO FACILITATE
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
- raised $2550 for the Student Leadership Training Fund
- maintained the CHAMP resource area for High School,
College and Career Planning
- purchased the Ohio Career Information Systems (OCIS)
online career exploration program
- promoted good communication by inviting Student
Council officers and guest speakers to address parents at meetings; wrote
articles for The Daily Standard; mailed flyers to parents; printed the
Parents’ Newsletter; updated the CHAMP bulletin board and web site
- maintained the School Maps web site
