| Computer Technology is a 9 week course for 7th and 8th graders at the Celina Middle School. As 7th graders, the students work hard to develop proper typing habits. Fifteen minutes a day is spent on drill and practice with Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing. For the remainder of the period, students work on projects using Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. We will also use a variety of photo editing tools such as GIMP. As 8th graders, the students learn to design and build web pages. The primary object of their work is to maintain the CMS website. 8th Graders also continue to work on typing skills as well as Microsoft Office applications. We will also play around with sound editing using Audacity.
During the 2 quarters of study, 7th and 8th graders will also learn to refine their Internet research skills. Our primary focus will be to learn to use the computer to get their work done efficiently. A secondary goal is to learn to hook up and safely troubleshoot their computers.
