American Education Week 2015 Planned in Celina Schools

"American Education Week (AEW) spotlights the importance of providing every child in America with a quality public education from kindergarten through college, and the need for everyone to do his or her part in making public schools great." (National Education Association website,). AE Week is November 16-20, 2015.

At the Celina City Schools Board meeting on Monday night, October 19, 2015, Celina Education Association (CEA) Co-President David Scott and  Superintendent Dr. Ken Schmiesing, along with the board members and guests, listened as Celina Mayor Jeff Hazel congratulated the staff of Celina Schools for their dedication to our children. He then read the Proclamation for American Education Week he penned.

Organizer of the week-long celebration, CEA committee member Sheila Baltzell spoke to the crowd on the quality public education provided  by the school system. She congratulated everyone, including board members, teachers, administrators, support staff, substitutes and volunteers at Celina Schools for all they do for Celina School children.

Activities planned in the buildings include: treats for all staff; posters; morning announcements; and encouraging emails. Celina Education Association also is sponsoring 5 - $100 mini-grants to teachers who submit an idea for a special lesson or activity they intend to use in their classroom and need some financial backing. Applications are being taken now. Winners will be announced after the first of the year.

The elegant sealed and framed document from Mayor Hazel is posted at Celina Education Complex.
