Monday, 3/10/08: Chemistry I will take the Phases of Matter Test.

Please remember that we will be working on a 2 hr delay schedule all next week as we have 10th grade OGT and 9th grade practice OGT.  Juniors will have a morning session at the Ed. Complex as well.  This promises to be a very difficult week schedule-wise so pay close attention to the instructions provided.

Thursday & Friday, 3/6 & 3/7 Mr. Scott will be in Chicago on a field trip.  Chemistry students should bring their book and notes to class because there will be review assignments over the current topic.

AP Chemistry

Thursday & Friday, 3/6 & 3/7: AP Chemistry will continue working on acid-base with

an in-class review assignment .

The lab report on measuring the Ka of a weak acid is due on Monday, 3/10/08.

Chemistry I

Wednesday, 2/27/08: Chemistry I will continue notes on Phases of Matter.  On Thursday, we will do the "Evaporation and Intermolecular Attraction" Lab that was scheduled for Tuesday.  The "Heat of Fusion" lab that was scheduled for Thursday will be omitted. 

The WebAssign that was due Tuesday, 2/26/08 is now due Thursday, 2/28/08.

AP Chemistry

Wednesday, 2/27/08: AP Chemistry will have a quiz over calculating pH of a salt and then continue notes over Acid-Base.

Chemistry I classes will finish the Acid-Base notes today. 

Do not plan on having any study hall time unless we are able to finish the notes early.

NO SCHOOL - SNOW DAY

CHEMISTRY I

The WebAssign HW#18 due date has been changed from Tue. 2/20/07 to Thurs. 2/22/07.

The Stiochiometry Test has been moved from Thurs. 2/22/07 to Fri. 2/23/07.

There WILL BE a quiz on Tue. 2/20/07. It will be an excess-limiting problem and it will also involve a non-STP gas calculation.

AP CHEMISTRY

Since we have JETS competition on Wed. 2/21/07, parts 2 and 3 of the test will be on Thurs. 2/22/07 and Fri. 2/23/07 respectively.

The Equilibrium Test part 1 will be on Mon.  2/26/07.

We will have a quiz on Tue. 2/20/07 covering both equilibrium and phases of matter topics.  You will want to review all of chapter 13, and sections 15.6, 10.1, 10.2, 10.8, 10.9.  In section 10.9, you can skip over the two pages covering the Clausis-Clapeyron equation that is presented in Sample Exercises 10.5 and 10.6 (pages 478 and 479).

Chemistry I has a revised Weekly Schedule. 

The WebAssign HW#18 due date has been changed from Tue. 2/20/07 to Thurs. 2/22/07.

NO SCHOOL - SNOW DAY

Chemistry I students should plan on doing Wednesday's schedule as planned on the Weekly Schedule.  We are skipping what was planned for Tuesday.  There will be a study hall on Wednesday as shown on the Weekly Schedule.  Students with labs or other things that need to be made-up can plan on doing it during that study hall. 

The WebAssign HW#17 is still DUE TODAY.

AP Chemistry students should plan on taking Part 2 of the Equilibrium Test (Problem Section) on Wednesday as planned on the AP Weekly Schedule.

If we have a delay or cancellation on Wednesday, 2/14/07, remember to check back here to see what changes are made to our schedule.


Friday, 2/9/07

2 Hour Delay (modified)

3rd period: 9:25 - 9:56

 4th period: 10:00 - 10:30

Only periods 3-4 will meet before lunch today.  Do not go to your normal 1st period class.  Report to your 3rd period class at 9:20 to start the day.

Chemistry I, Period 3-4 will conduct the Molar Volume of Gas lab experiment during the double period class time.

All Chemistry I classes will have notes today.  Morning classes will NOT have a study hall.

Tuesday, 2/6/07

2 hour delay

Chemistry I morning classes (periods 1-2 and 3-4) will NOT have a lab and a study hall as scheduled.  Instead, we will take notes during both shortened periods over gas calculations.  Period 6-7 will go according to the weekly schedule.

If we have a normal day on Wednesday, 2/7/07, we will do what was scheduled for Tuesday, 2/6/07 instead of what is on the weekly schedule.


Monday, 1/22/07

As of 8:30 pm Sunday, 1/21/07 - 2 hour delay

Chemistry I morning classes will NOT have a study hall as scheduled.  We will continue the notes on our outline of reactions where we ended last week.  Periods 1-2 and 3-4 should plan on using both shortened periods to take notes.  Period 6-7 will go according to the weekly schedule as it is printed.

AP Chemistry's weekly schedule will be created after the start of school on Monday, 1/22/07.

Physical Science 9

We will still conduct the lab Experiment 3.8 "The Density of Solids" as planned.  This is a short lab that can be accomplished in 10 to 15 minutes.

Chemistry I

Periods 1 & 3 will take notes and not take a quiz.

Period 6 will follow the schedule as planned.

IPS

Both periods will have the scheduled BQ review for Chapter 1.

AP Chem

Normal schedule.
