Mr. John James

John James, Science Teacher.
Hi!
I am a Science Teacher at Celina High School.
This is my first year at CHS in 2018-2019.

While attending school at Wright State University I had opportunities to go on many fossil digs. I always enjoyed getting outside and learning about different things that can all be visited here in the United States. My first dig that I went on was in Mississippi. A couple of vans full of students went to a farm where there were vertebrae sticking out of the ground. After a few days we unearthed approximately 36 feet worth of Basilosaurus vertebrae. Another exciting dig was when we visited the Badlands of South Dakota and dug up a Hadrosaur ilium and ischium. What is unique about this site is the fact that it is the same site where Sue was uncovered. Sue is a female Tyrannosaurus rex that is on display at Chicago Field Museum in Chicago, Illinois. There were numerous other digs that I found very interesting. The memories shared on the trips will last a lifetime.

Work History

Out of college I worked for a natural gas company based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. I was a mud logger who created graphical representations for a number of different variables by utilizing borehole cuttings, gamma readings and gas chromatography equipment.

I then went to work for an engineering firm called Bowser-Morner. I was a geologist there who visited a number of different Construction, Demolition and Debris Landfills (C&D) where I installed, developed and sampled monitoring wells. Other sample collections were made from leachate and surface waters.

Prior to coming to Celina High School, I worked for City of Greenville Water Department (City). I received my Class III Water Operator's License in 2015. Summary of duties included, operating a water plant, helping develop a backflow monitoring program, testing City owned backflow devices, cross-connection control surveys, aiding in writing for grants, full laboratory certified, certified for Microcystin analysis and additional water sampling.
