American Education Week 2018 Planned by CEA in Celina Schools
Sheila Baltzell-Linn, Mayor Jeff Hazel, Dr. Ken Schmiesing with Proclamation.

"American Education Week (AEW) spotlights the importance of providing every child in America with a quality public education from kindergarten through college, and the need for everyone to do his or her part in making public schools great." (National Education Association website,). AE Week is coming up November 12-16, 2018.

As organizer for the event, the CEA Professional Relations Committee, which includes, Carol Bader, Betsy Crites, Amanda Moore, Jackie Mertz, Brittany Green and me would like to congratulate everyone, including board members, teachers, administrators, support staff, substitutes and volunteers at Celina Schools for all they do for Celina School children.

Activities planned in the buildings include: candy treats for all staff; posters; morning announcements; and encouraging emails. Celina Education Association also is sponsoring 5 - $100 mini-grants to teachers who submit an idea for a special lesson or activity they intend to use in their classroom and need some financial backing. Applications will be available that week. Winners will be announced after the first of the year. At that time, there will be a check presentation at a board meeting so we can all see who won and hear about their projects.

In addition, the local Parent Organization CCSCO plans to provide some evening treats during both nights of Parent Teacher conferences in November for the staffs of Primary, Elementary and Intermediate, a wonderful and deeply appreciated contribution!

Celina Mayor Jeff Hazel recently presented a Proclamation for American Education Week to Dr. Schmiesing.

So in conclusion, we are looking forward to American Education Week and thank everyone who helps make our schools great!
