Have you ever driven by Celina Primary and wondered what all those students are doing walking around the front drive? It’s a Mileage Club day! Mileage Club is a fitness/health activity the students and staff have the opportunity to participate in throughout the school year. The purpose is to increase learning readiness and fight obesity by building an active lifestyle by walking and/or running. Every Thursday during last recess (weather permitting), the front circle drive is closed off to traffic so that students may walk or run. All students have a mileage marker card they take with them when they walk. Each time a lap is completed, a tally mark is marked on the card. Once 6 laps are complete, the student gets a punch on his/her card, indicating that a mile has been walked. For every mile walked, the students earn a foot token to put on a dog chain that they can proudly wear. Although for some students it may seem difficult to walk a mile, we encourage them to work hard and never give up...persevering to reach their goal! The students are so excited and proud when they achieve each mile! Let's get moving, Celina Primary!
