Background and Education B.A. from Anderson University in 1981 with a double major in English and Education. Graduate work at Miami University in both English and Spanish where I received my Spanish teaching certification. Masters in Educational Leadership from Miami University. Lived and taught in Quezaltenango, Guatemala for three years (where I learned my Spanish) from 1986-1989. Have taught Spanish at Celina since 1999.

One of the best sites on the web for basic lessons from a grammatical perspective is StudySpanish.com. One of the best things at the site is the pronunciation exercises. You can get there through the site's home page or more directly at: StudySpanish Pronunciation.

Typing Spanish characters and accent marks.

Spanish Diacritical Marks in Google Docs
At present Google Docs has no shortcuts for foreign language characters (when using the U.S. standard keyboard layout) meaning that you must either go the Insert Special Character route or use the ASCII codes provided below (ACSII codes also work in html).

alt + 160 = á
alt + 130 = é
alt + 161 = í
alt + 162 = ó
alt + 163 = ú
alt + 164 = ñ
alt + 165 = Ñ
alt + 173 = ¡
alt + 168 = ¿

Spanish Diacritical Marks in Microsoft Word
Accent Marks: Control key + apostrophe key pressed simultaneously followed by the vowel to be accented.
Umlaut: Control key + Shift key + semicolon key pressed simultaneously followed by the “u.”
Tilde: Control key + Shift key + Tilde key (top left of keyboard) followed by “n.”
Inverted Question Mark: Control key + Shift key + Alt key + “?” pressed simultaneously.
Inverted Exclamation Point: Control key + Shift key + Alt key + ! pressed simultaneously.
