Resource Room Teacher
Celina Intermediate School
Background
I grew up in Hammond, Indiana and graduated from Gavit High School. I
attended and graduated from Indiana State University in 1980 with a degree
in Special Education. I married my husband Mark in the spring of 1980 and
moved to Bedford, Indiana. I taught for 2 years before leaving teaching
to start a family. I have a son Aaron and two daughters, Amy and
Alison. We moved to St. Marys in the fall of 1989. I started back
teaching in 1996 for Mercer County ESC. I started in Coldwater and moved
to Celina Intermediate School when it opened. I became a Celina City
employee in 2008 when Celina Schools took over the multiple disability
classrooms.
Special Training
I have attended many in-services and have had many hours of training in
the areas of ADHD and Autism. I work with the Celina Schools setting up
programs for students who need interventions in the classroom so they are
able to be successful throughout their school day. I am a member of the
Autism group at Celina Schools. I have been working at Bitter Sweet
Farms teaching a social group for several years. I have given
presentations on the subject of Autism to many schools and parent groups
during the past 8 years. I enjoy this aspect of my job very much and hope
to continue helping educate others about Autism.
