Brennen Bader, Director
It is our goal at Celina High School to be the leader in providing excellent learning opportunities for students. The creation of Celina Virtual Learning Academy (CVLA) allows us to offer students the ability to take courses and earn credits in a very flexible way within the school setting, or from home. It also gives us the ability to help students who may need to recover credits after falling behind.
In the virtual program, we offer students a broad range of core classes, and many electives, to meet their educational needs. A course catalog may be viewed, along with a student's transcript, to determine courses needed for graduation. Our guidance counselors, building principal, and director are here to help with any questions that may arise. Our counselors are directly in charge of transcripts, and the director will track progress, facilitate student learning, arrange lab time, and answer any questions. The building principal is always available to answer questions as well.
CVLA utilizes the Pearson program, which allows students to work at their own pace. This essentially means that students may work through courses very quickly and advance on to another class. These courses allow students to pre-test, so they may advance on to the topics they really need to learn and study, while skipping material that has already been mastered. Students work through modules and complete tests until a mastery level of 80% or greater is achieved on each assessment. At the completion of each course, a grade is received, as with any course within a typical classroom setting, and a report card is issued.
If you or someone you know has an interest in CVLA, please contact the building principal or director to learn more about this exciting learning opportunity!
