WELCOME, to the 2020-2021 school year! My name is Christine Schlater, and I am thrilled to be your student's teacher this year. I will be working with Mrs. Jen Smith. Together, we will be Cluster 6 BLACK. My role will be to teach language arts and social studies. We are all excited to dive into this school year, get to know your student, and build a positive learning community where we can ALL become better versions of ourselves.
I am entering my fourteenth year as a classroom teacher and couldn't be more thrilled with my role at CIS. With each year, I learn more and more from my students. I have a passion for the art of language including reading, writing, speaking, listening, discussing, and viewing; and I am very eager to share this passion with you and your child.
On a daily basis, students will work with vocabulary, read fiction and non-fiction for deeper understanding, think critically, and share their new understandings through writing, discussion, and creating. I have planned a variety of activities that will allow each student to grow as a reader, writer, and thinker.
As an educator, I believe the most meaningful learning experiences are based on positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents/guardians. I encourage you to contact me with any questions or concerns. I am best reached by e-mail. ([email protected])
