Mrs. Cricket Dobmeyer, Music Specialist

Mrs. Dobmeyer: 1st Grade/3rd Grade/5th Grade MUSIC/CHOIR at Celina Elementary:

Music Specialist
Contact Mrs. Dobmeyer at: [email protected]
To stay up-to-date on what we are learning about in music class, parents are invited to check in on their son/daughter's Music Google Classroom.  Mrs. Dobmeyer posts links to the music videos we watch and sing in class, many of the interactives and games we play, and links to songs we sing in class.  Students are always welcome and encouraged to access the music google classroom to review or extend their learning from class, or to catch up on what was taught when they miss a day of music class.

Students receive 40 minutes of music instruction once every THREE days of school.
During those 40 minutes, the we will learn to be "tuneful, beatful, and artful" in their music making.
We do this by using our voices in a variety of ways, learning to read rhythms and pitches/music notation,
playing various  instruments, moving to music in a variety of ways, listening to and evaluating the quality of music performances, and even occasionally creating our own music compositions.

Starting in the 2024-2025 school year, Mrs. Dobmeyer is team teaching
5th grade choir with Mrs. Brautigam on THURSDAYS during students' recess time.
Mrs. Dobmeyer will also be assisting with 6th grade choir on TUESDAYS during recess time.
Any student in those grades that is interested may join!

Mrs. Dobmeyer has her own youtube channel"Mrs. Dobmeyer" She creates videos that will reinforce concepts from class- vocal exercises, rhythm reading drills, ear training, and more!  Students are encouraged to view the videos and follow instructions to build upon their skills learned in class!

In music class, we will utilize John Feierabend's "First Steps in Music" (https://www.feierabendmusic.org/)
as well as Quaver's Marvelous World of Music, which are both music curriculums
that cover Ohio's music learning standards.  Both are not only educational, but full of fun!
Each student will be given their own Quaver Student Account during the 2nd or 3rd nine weeks
of 3rd grade music class.  Students can then access and explore many different educational music games
and activities in class or even on their own at home!

Due to school district budget restraints and new field trip limitations,
the 2024 Nutcracker field trip has unfortunately been CANCELED.
Please contact our CES principals with any questions.
We spend a few weeks in music class familiarizing ourselves
with the music and ballet dance genre of The Nutcracker, and
Mrs. Dobmeyer hopes to resume the amazing experience of attending a live performance
with her 3rd grade students AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!!
